As one of China's leading motor manufacturers, WOLONG continues to pursue its long-term vision of becoming the world's leading electric motor company.

The Entrepreneur Behind WOLONG
The story of WOLONG begins with its founder and Chairman, Mr. Jiancheng Chen.
After graduating from high school in 1975, Mr. Chen initially worked as a carpenter alongside his father. Although woodworking was the family business, he was deeply interested in engineering and technology. Following China's economic reforms, he joined a fiberglass factory as a technician, where he spent seven years developing his technical and management expertise before becoming Deputy Technical Director.
Recognizing the opportunities created by China's opening economy, Mr. Chen decided to start his own business.
The Beginning of WOLONG

In 1984, together with five colleagues, Mr. Chen invested approximately RMB 140,000 to establish Shangyu Multi-Speed Micro Motor Factory in Zhejiang Province.
One year later, the company successfully introduced its first product—the JW Series electric motor. At a time when China's industrial motor market was experiencing rapid growth, the products quickly gained market recognition due to their reliability and performance.
Within ten years, the business had expanded significantly and was reorganized as Zhejiang WOLONG Group, laying the foundation for the company's future growth.
Rapid Expansion and Global Growth
The electric motor industry proved to be an excellent long-term growth sector. By the time WOLONG was listed on the stock market in 2002, the company had already established strong market positions in air-conditioning motors, motorcycle motors, and brushless DC motors for electric vehicles.
Following its public listing, WOLONG accelerated both organic growth and strategic acquisitions. Over the years, the company invested billions of RMB to strengthen its capabilities across motors, transformers, variable frequency drives, and industrial automation.
Within China, WOLONG expanded through the acquisition of numerous well-known manufacturers, including Nanyang Explosion Protection Motor, transformer manufacturers, and variable frequency drive companies, significantly enhancing its product portfolio.
Internationally, WOLONG continued its globalization strategy through several major acquisitions. These included Austria's ATB Group, one of Europe's leading motor manufacturers; Italy's SIR, a robotics and automation specialist; Italy's OLI, the global leader in industrial vibration motors; and the industrial motor business of GE (General Electric) in the United States. These acquisitions further strengthened WOLONG's global manufacturing capabilities and technological expertise.
